The Clown: An Impro Clown Session Sharing and Teaser
Hosted by Charles Alba
Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM
EPC Studio, Unit 37D Centertown Bldg. Domingo Guevara, corner L. Esteban, Mandaluyong, 1550 Metro Manila
Before the character, before the game, before the clever move — there's you, standing there, being looked at. Clown starts there.
This is a taster: three hours to get your feet wet and meet your own Impro Clown. Expect play, exposure, and the specific relief of finding out that being seen isn't the disaster you thought it was.
What we'll explore:
- Being comfortable onstage as yourself — no character to hide behind
- The audience as your scene partner, and how to build a real relationship with them
- Getting out of your head by trusting the room
No clown or improv experience needed — total beginners are welcome, and improvisers will find plenty to chew on. Bring comfortable clothes you can move in.
Capped at 10 so everyone gets real reps. Please arrive by 6:30 PM for check-in; we start on the floor at 7:00 PM sharp.

Charles Alba is an improviser from Housekeeping Improv, Buwan ng Wika Improv, and Same Bananas. He has been improvising for 8 years, learned improv from Third World Improv, and has joined workshops and shows online and in person in the Philippines; Singapore; Japan; Taiwan; Vietnam (The Improv Hub, Saigon Improv House); Canada (Improv College); India (Kaivalya Plays); and the United Kingdom (The Nursery).
He likes to blend his product management/web development day job with improv, and so he has done digital visuals, lights, and sounds for SPIT Manila and other improv groups, as well as devised/performed with AI as a sixth player in the Manila Improv Festival 2023 before generative AI became mainstream.
Charles, with Sabrina Manansala, runs Same Bananas Improv, where they host monthly improv events (jams, workshops, and shows) for the local community. His fascination with patterns, object work, environment work, and tech-assisted play as well as improv frameworks allows him to share the love for improv with anyone. He also likes fried chicken very much.
