Same Bananas is a Manila-based improv theatre duo composed of Sabrina Manansala and Charles Alba, who bring over seven years of experience in performing and facilitating improvisational theatre in the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, and other parts of Asia. They are connected by a desire to play with physicality through characters, honey cauliflower rice, and shared life stories during the wee hours of the night. Aside from performing duo improv, Sabrina and Charles host and facilitate monthly jams, workshops, and shows for the local improv community. They have also facilitated applied improvisation sessions for corporate teams within ByteDance, DB Schenker, BPI, and Jollibee.

Sabrina Manansala is an artist, host, performer, and marketing professional who ignites her creativity through improvisation, dance, music, and spoken word poetry. She has taught improv workshops across the globe—including Singapore, Los Angeles, Taipei, Nigeria and Vietnam, —and regularly runs workshops, produces shows, and holds monthly improv jams in Manila. She served as the Production Head for Fringeprov 2025, a 12-hour improv festival in Manila; as a Production Manager for Manila Improv Festival 2026; and as an applied improv facilitator running workshops for major enterprises in the Philippines such as Bytedance (TikTok), Dunkin, BPI, DB Schenker, JFC, and more. Her work is deeply rooted in movement, physicality, emotion, and presence—believing that stories live in every gesture and that improv is a kinetic dance where each moment unfolds with warmth and adventure. She regularly performs with the house team of Third World Improv—Housekeeping Improv, Buwan ng Wika Improv, Noted with Thanks, and Same Bananas—blending art forms and communities through shared play and creativity. Charles Alba is an improviser from Housekeeping Improv, Buwan ng Wika Improv, and Same Bananas. He has been improvising for 8 years, learned improv from Third World Improv, and has joined workshops and shows online and in person in the Philippines; Singapore; Japan; Taiwan; Vietnam (The Improv Hub, Saigon Improv House); Canada (Improv College); India (Kaivalya Plays); and the United Kingdom (The Nursery). He likes to blend his product management/web development day job with improv, and so he has done digital visuals, lights, and sounds for SPIT Manila and other improv groups, as well as devised/performed with AI as a sixth player in the Manila Improv Festival 2023 before generative AI became mainstream. Charles, with Sabrina Manansala, runs Same Bananas Improv, where they host monthly improv events (jams, workshops, and shows) for the local community. His fascination with patterns, object work, environment work, and tech-assisted play as well as improv frameworks allows him to share the love for improv with anyone. He also likes fried chicken very much. Check out Charles's list of workshops here.
